Operation Sindoor has proved itself to be much bigger than an India-Pakistan conflict. By all indications, what was an international clash of interests of desperate ‘big’ nations that was simmering in the East has now come to the surface, with issues that have played out over the past few years now entering a decisive stage. In all of this, an imploding Pakistan has turned out to what it truly is, a famished pawn. India is the power that now challenges the world order, through its development, defiant inclusivity and its vibrant, and well-oiled democracy, something not many can claim, something that hardly a few can stomach.
We use the word conflict, translating to war in this case, judiciously. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first public statement after Operation Sindoor that he made on the evening of May 12, wherein he says that India will no longer differentiate between terrorists and their sponsors–read the entire Pakistani establishment in this case–makes that amply evident. Directly or indirectly, the existence of other sponsors, and tacit supporters, of Pakistani terror is evident: right from China that supports Pakistan and its
terrorist ways, to a singularly ungrateful Turkey that India helped save during the XX earthquake in that country. Add to that the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) that will not stand firm with India against Pakistan, to the US that made way
for an IMF bailout for Pakistan for the umpteenth time, with Donald Trump jumping to falsely claim that America had brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, going on to say that peace had been bartered for an offer of trade and the larger picture begins to crystallise–that so long as there is money to be made (the US), and there is religion involved (refer OIC) human lives in India do not matter. It is in this conrtext that Prime Minister Modi’s milestone speech after the war was put on hold becomes even more significant, as one that outlines India’s commitment to stand for its own people, even as it fights terror that has affected the world, emanating as it does from the epicentre of terror, Pakistan: “Every terrorist attack in the world, be it 9/11 or the Tube Bombings in London, they all draw a connection to Pakistan,” Prime Minister Modi said. The import of that one line blew open the lid of the world’s polite hypocrisy by which, bogged down in its
1. Op Sindoor is only on hold (as opposed to a US-brokered ceasefire claimed by Donald Trump)
2. India responded to Pakistan with regard to a cessation of hostilities as Pakistan pleaded with India (as opposed to Trump’s claim of bringing about a ceasefire)
3. The only three issues that India will talk to Pakistan about: (a) Terror (b) Pakistan occupied Kashmir and (c) XXXXX. Effectively throws out Trump’s attempt to worm his way into becoming a mediator in the PoK issue.
4. Henceforth, India will not differentiate between Pakistani terror and the Pakistani state. Reinforces India’s position that Pakistan is a terror state that the world has shut its eyes to. Pakistan to now be taken to task for any act of terror without any kind of talk or consideration.
5. Water will not flow with blood. Meaning the totally one-sided Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan will continue to be held in abeyance.
6. India has drawn a line and this is the new normal, meaning any act of terror will be treated as an act of war and directly result in punitive action by India. India will closely monitor all Pak activities.
7. India will no longer be blackmailed by Pakistan that had so long used its claims of being a nuclear state as a bargaining chip for terror. Disproved by India’s bombing of the Kirana Hill that is meant to house Pakistani nuclear assets and along with that the airbase at XXXXX which houses Pakistani XX fighters and also nuclear warheads
own wars of interest be it in Gaza or Ukraine, the World War against Terror, that India fights in the nest that breeds that terror, has now left to only India to fight. And that for India to progress, its peace must be fought for, without the slighest mercy.
All of Team Trump’s talk notwithstanding, it did not take even 48 hours for the truth to emerge. India had within days taken the war on terror home to the Pakistanis, striking terror camps deep in Pakistani territoty. Pakistan’s open response of fighting on behalf of the terrorists, without shame of camouflage, was met with a much more fierce response, destroying a dozen strategic airports and ensuring that Pakistani air defence was ruduced to rubble. What then destroyed Pakistani resistance was the unthinkable that India did: bomb Kirana Hills that housed Pakistani nuclear warheads. This strike brought Pakistan to its knees, forcing it to plead for a cessation of hostilities. All India had to do was accept. Despite complete silence from India’s armed forces, it was within hours that news of the Kirana attack became public, established bye three earthquakes that then struck the area, not known for tectonic activity. The earth shook as India called Pakistan’s nuclear bluff, so long its only bargaining chip in an inhuman war of terror it had inclicted on India for decades.
